VOLUNTEER
Volunteering is a huge part of Kamloops Heritage Railway. Our 1912 steam locomotive was restored through thousands of hours of sweat equity by our many skilled volunteers. We continue today to be volunteer-driven and have the following positions to fill at this time:
1. Entertainers
4. Backshop

Onboard Attendants
We require a lot of eyes and ears to keep our passengers safe! Oh, and smiles to keep them happy! This position requires a level of maturity, an orientation toward safety, an enjoyment of people. You must be able to remain calm under pressure and follow directions from the Train Manager.

Onboard Attendants are required to undergo a criminal record check, which is free to volunteers. Training is supplied, and volunteers are asked to work at least one shift per week throughout the summer, and three of six Ghost Trains and Spirit of Christmas trains. Minimum age is 18 unless otherwise agreed upon.

Ticket Office
More help is always appreciated! The Manager is out in the community much of the time and we would like to be able to have the Ticket Office open so passersby can get information or buy a souvenir or ticket. Maturity, independence and experience with cash and card procedures are required.

Backshop
We rely on our team of backstop volunteers to help restore, maintain and run our steam locomotive, the 2141, and other rolling stock. Our backstop volunteers have also recently began giving public tours throughout the facility. We need some extra help!

We need volunteers in our backshop to help with restorations, repairs, and building displays. This is perfect for anyone who is mechanically inclined or just anyone who likes to work with their hands.

We also need backshop tour guides. Our guides deliver our Backshop tour and provide commentary on all our historic rolling stock, some of our decommissioned cars, and the steam locomotive 2141. This position requires friendly and outgoing people, who are comfortable with public speaking. Training is provided

Most importantly, we NEED new people who are willing to learn how to drive the locomotive and we are willing to train you to do the job! If you have previous railroad experience, the training process will go faster, but we are willing to train anyone who can dedicate their time.
