On a dark halloween night in 1915, steam locomotive 4121 pulled a passenger train carrying 44 passengers and crew towards a date with destiny. Departing in vile weather that fateful evening, the train headed north on its way to Blue River. As the journey proceeded and they neared Wolfenden, an eerie green mist appeared enveloping the entire train. The locomotive, the train and all the passengers and crew never reappeared and as the fog cleared, nothing was ever seen of them again....until now.
Ever since the restoration of the Kamloops Heritage Railway's KHR 2141 steam locomotive was completed in 2002, strange events began to occur. Sightings, noises, missing tools, strange behaviours and disturbances often interrupted railtour operations. Footsteps in a hall corridor in the KHR ticket office would generate a friendly greeting called out by staff only to be met with silence and emptiness.
The 'Ghost Train' in Kamloops, BC by Kamloops Heritage Railway with KHR steam locomotive 2141.
Join us if you dare for a dark and mysterious tale of lost love, deceit, murder and unspeakable horror as we steam away into the mists between the living and the dead. What is the source of the Undertaker's misery and why is the Bride-to-be so anxious as she moves fleetingly amongst the passengers. There is a hidden force that drives all the spirits to distraction when it takes hold. It first appears not too long into our journey. The mix of ghostly characters onboard the Ghost Train range from a banker, salesman, nurse and patient, hurdy gurdy girl, school teacher, grave digger, bridesmaids, conductors, and more. The mysterious Widow dressed in black and clutching her hat box moves about the train and is the most aggitated whenever the hidden force takes over the train. What foul apparition rides yonder, shadowing the train. A bell tolls and a familiar figure strides onto the train searching for lost souls to take back with him to the graveyard. A visit to the graveyard upon our return to the station reveals the ending....or is it just another beginning?

Parking is available to the east of the station (requires payment) and is available on Lorne Street (some paid, some free). Passengers that have their tickets can go directly to the line up which is in front of the CN Station building on the north side and next to the tracks. Passengers picking up tickets, should go to the ticket office by 6:45 pm and then proceed to the line up. Washrooms are available in the ticket office as well as souveniers in our gift shop. Passengers are then invitied to join the cast and crew in the graveyard just outside the ticket office. The ticket office will be open upon our return for washroom access and giftshop sales.
44 passengers and crew went missing that fateful Halloween night in 1915. Each one has a story to be told as we journey forward into the past.
Travel onboard the the 'Ghost Train' as it is pulled by the restored 1912 steam locomotive KHR 2141. Directly behind the locomotive and tender will be the cafe-lounge car KHR 402 'Monte Lake' which has some inside seating and entertainment in the cafe section. Following that car are the open-air coaches KHR 301 and KHR 302. These are covered but open on the sides with wooden benches facing outwards on both sides down the entire length of the cars. These are the best viewing cars for the Ghost Train as there are unobstructed views of the entertainment that happens off the train as we travel and stop. Passengers are free to move about the train while we travel so if you find it cool or would like a more comfortable seat, you are invited to vist the passenger coach. Please consider weather and seating. To ensure an inside seat, please line up early as the train will carry a total of one hundred and eighty passengers with inside seating for eighty and outside seating for one hundred. Following the open air cars is the restored heritage coach KHR 403 'Riverside Park'. There is seating for eighty passengers inside and the seats face each other in groups of 4. There is a washroom located in the Riverside Park coach and, while it is warmer than the open air cars, it is not heated so dress for the weather. The last car in the consist is the KHR 501 'Westwold' caboose. There is entertainment in the caboose and some limited seating but it does become busy so it is more likley that you will visit the caboose and leave after you have had your experience. Travel about the train is encouraged to experience all the entertainment that is included but if you choose to remain in one spot, most of the entertainment in the form of the characters will circulate throughout the train and eventually reach you.

A visit by the Grim Reaper is never a good sign. Who will he take back to the graveyard with him?
Weather and Seating. The train will be sold up to one hundred and eighty passengers. Inside coach seating is available for up to eighty passengers. Outside seating is available for one hundred passengers. As standing is permitted, additional passengers may be added to accommodate increases in group bookings or to make room for late family and friend additions. Passengers should come dressed for the weather to be outside. The first eighty people in the line up have first chance at the inside seating. Once the coach is filled, the remaining passengers will be outside in the covered open-air cars.
Clothing and Footwear. Passengers should always dress for the weather when travelling onboard. The area where passengers line up is covered, the open air cars are covered and the passengers coaches are enclosed. Temperatures are not controlled onboard so heat and cold should be factored into your clothing decisions. Footwear should be comfortable and stable. We strongly recommend that passengers do not wear spike high heeled shoes. The 301 open air car has plank flooring with wide enough gaps for the heel to drop into.
Lining Up on the Platform. The sooner you line up on the platform, the better chance of being inside the passenger coach. Pre-board passengers are always the first to go on. The line will be organized and you will be directed to where you need to stand. We recommend 6:50 pm at the latest as the train pulls in at 7:00 pm and entertainment starts at 7:05 pm on the platform.
Travel Restrictions. The Kamloops Heritage Railway has the right to refuse travel to passengers deemed to be unsafe by their demonstrated behavior and demeanor.
